Background | BA.2 is one of the Omicron sublineage, and some amino acids in the spike protein and other proteins of BA.2 are different from those of other lineages. WHO will continue to monitor its changes closely because of its growth advantage compared with other sublineages of Omicron and its more severe disease in hamsters. 293T cells were transfected with HIV-1 (human immunodeficiency virus type I) -based vector and packaged into SARS-CoV-2 B.1.1.529 sublineage BA.2 (Omicron) Spike pseudovirus. The pseudovirus can be used to infect cells overexpressing ACE2. This pseudovirus has no self-replication ability, and has the characteristics of high safety and operability. |
