Background | KLK15 (Kallikrein Related Peptidase 15) is a Protein Coding gene. This gene is one of the fifteen kallikrein subfamily members located in a cluster on chromosome 19. Human KLK15 may have some utility as a prostate, ovarian, and breast cancer biomarker, based on previous studies, which examined mRNA levels of KLK15. Aberrant KLK15 expression is found in breast, ovarian, and prostate cancers. KLK15 over-expression is reported to be a significant predictor of reduced progression-free survival and overall survival in ovarian cancer. Kallikrein 15 (KLK15)/Prostinogen is a plausible candidate for prostate cancer susceptibility. Elevated KLK15 expression has been reported in prostate cancer and it has been described as an unfavorable prognostic marker for the disease. |
