Background	Transferrin (also known as transferrin transferrin, TRF, siderophilin) is the main iron-containing protein in plasma and is responsible for the transport of iron absorbed by the alimentary canal and released by the degradation of red blood cells. It enters the bone marrow in the form of the TRF-Fe3+ complex for the production of mature red blood cells.
