VTCN1 (V-Set structural domain-containing T cell activation inhibitory factor 1), also known as B7-H4 (Gene ID: 79679), is a gene that encodes a cell surface protein belonging to the B7 family of immune checkpoint molecules. VTCN1 plays a role in the regulation of immune responses and has been associated with immune tolerance. Initially identified as a member of the B7 family, which includes well-known immune checkpoint molecules such as PD-1 and CTLA-4. VTCN1 was initially characterized for its role in inhibiting T-cell activation, but further studies revealed its importance in immune regulation and its significance in cancer and autoimmune diseases. The main functions of VTCN1 are as follows.
