ApoAI is the main protein component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), which helps in the transport and removal of cholesterol, while ApoB is the main component of low-density lipoprotein (LDL), which is the carrier that cholesterol is transported to various parts of the body. The ratio of ApoAI to ApoB was used to assess the risk of cardiovascular disease. These proteins are usually measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), nephelometry, or immunoelectrophoresis.
Mechanism of action of Lipoprotein a (Lp(a)) : Lp(a) is an LDL particle containing a special protein structure that is similar in structure to plasma fibrinogen and may affect the process of thrombosis, which is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Lp(a) can be determined by ELISA, chemiluminescent immunoassay (CLIA), or particle enhanced immunotransmission test.
ApoE is a key lipoprotein that is essential for the metabolism of cholesterol and triglycerides. Its genetic polymorphisms are associated with a variety of metabolic conditions, including Alzheimer's disease and cardiovascular disease.
