Transport Protein Inhibitor Screening Service

Transport proteins are the largest family of membrane proteins in human organisms and include members of the solute carrier transport protein and ATP-binding cassette transport protein families. They play a key role in the absorption, distribution and excretion of exogenous and endogenous molecules. Transport proteins are widely expressed in a variety of human tissues and are routinely evaluated during drug development and approval. Transport proteins are currently being used as therapeutic targets for the treatment of diabetes, major depressive disorder, hypertension, constipation and many other diseases. Little is known about the endogenous substrates or physiological functions of more than half of the members of the transport protein superfamily, despite the steady growth in the field of transport protein biology.
