Sialic Acid Binding Immunoglobulin Like Lectin (CD33L3) (Gene ID:284266), also known as SIGLEC-15 or Sialic Acid Binding Ig Like Lectin 15, is a DAP12-associated immune receptor belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily and the Siglec (Sialic Acid Binding Ig Like Lectin) family. Siglecs are cell surface proteins expressed primarily on immune cells that bind to sialic acid, representing a subtype of the type I lectin. Siglec-15 consists of an immunoglobulin-like domain, a transmembrane domain, and a short cytoplasmic tail. It recognizes sialylated glycans and regulates osteoclast differentiation, making it a potential therapeutic target for osteoporosis, and plays a regulatory role in the vertebrate immune system.
