CD150 (Gene ID:6504) is a typical member of the SLAM subgroup within the CD2 family of proteins, also known as the type I transmembrane glycoprotein signaling lymphocyte activation molecule, SLAM, IPO-3. It exhibits normal expression in thymocytes, T-cell subsets, B-cells, dendritic cells, macrophages, and hematopoietic stem cells. The protein encoded by the CD150 gene contains 335 amino acids and is now recognized as an important immunomodulatory receptor, playing important roles in cytotoxicity, humoral immunity, autoimmunity, cell survival, lymphocyte development, and cell adhesion. Two distinct modes of CD150 signaling exist: one involving SH2D1A acting as a negative regulator, and the other relying on protein tyrosine phosphatase 2C (PTPN11) for its signaling activity—a protein implicated in the regulation and interconnection of innate and adaptive immune responses.
