CD160 (Gene ID:11126) is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily (IgSF), a transmembrane glycoprotein anchored by glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI). It is also known as BY55, NK1, and NK28. CD160 is expressed in various immune cells, and is present in cytotoxic NK cells either as a GPI or transmembrane form, with the latter being predominantly expressed in cytotoxic subpopulations of NK cells. The protein encoded by CD160 consists of 181 amino acids and contains an Ig-like structural domain. CD160 plays an important role in the immune system by signaling co-stimulation or co-inhibition through its interaction with ligands. Therefore, CD160 protein plays an important role in the immune responses associated with numerous human diseases such as malignant tumors and autoimmune diseases.
